The Fear of Being Seen
I am doing exposure therapy.
I taught I was a pretty confident person, but turns out there is many, many more layers to work through in that department.
And I know I am not the only one. Because when I take pictures of people, they are all pretty quick and aggressive in them asking me to mention them.
It’s only recently that I’ve asked, why don’t you just post it to your profile instead?
Absolutely not, people will think I am self-absorbed.
I mean it’s your profile?
I guess it’s a normal reaction when we live in a society that is ruled by shame and fear.
Fear of failure, fear of being seen trying, fear of being different.
I’ve been with many people that were more concerned on how they could be perceived online or offline than curious about the depths of their talent and ideas (myself included).
And if the opposite of shame is not pride, but rather self-expression.
Can we only be free from shame when we are ready to be seen?
